Dale Baptist Church
Down Memory Lane...
A special history bit by Linda Schmidt
"Rev H N Plumb took the pastorate of the church some time in 1840 and during that year, the house of worship was built. The church was not strong in number or wealth... The house was built, as it were, by piece-meal, one would take a load of grain or a horse that he could spare, another would give timber in the woods. Others would come with their axes and teams and score and hew and draw out the timber. While still others, who had some mechanical genius, came and framed and fitted timbers to their places. Up to this time, I think no salary had been paid a minister, but Elder Jenkins had preached for the people and they made him such presents as they saw fit. A very small salary I think, was paid Elder Plumb. The house was not finished until the winter of 1840-41. It was dedicated in February 1841. A good many people were present at the dedication."

We are so thankful for God's faithfulness over the years here at Dale Baptist as we celebrate 200 years this year.
