Pastor Biography

Greetings,

 I am Pastor Brian Spicer of the Dale Baptist Church, here in Dale NY. I have been the pastor here going on 10 years. 

I came to Christ in my teens and began attending church regularly when my now wife and I began dating. Learning from my then pastors teachings, youth group lessons and activities I began to place my trust in Jesus and committed to him in 1987. Although I have no formal training my past experience as a chairman of the deacons, youth ministry leader, and lay ministry coordinator at West Middlebury Baptist Church has given me great insight and renewed a 20 year old call to ministry. Once I was married, God really impressed upon me to focus on that calling.

Having God in my life followed me through my studies as a pharmacist and I received my BS in pharmacy from SUNY Buffalo in 1993. Since graduation I have enjoyed a long career as a pharmacist for Tops markets, LLC where I am currently the staff pharmacist in Batavia NY.

In college I had an English professor that used Genesis 1 to call into question the validity of Christianity. She stated that pagan pluralistic practices had influenced the writings of the Bible because the word for God in Genesis 1:1 is a plural word. (Elohim) She asked: "if there is only one God, how does this match up?" This did little to convince me that Christianity was inconsequential. On the contrary it actually sparked me to dig into the word of God and spiritual truth. I began reading as much as I could, God came alive to me, his word became real and exciting and my passion for his word has never left me. 

God continues to grow in me, stretching me, and equipping me for ministry. He has blessed me greatly in His provisions, my beautiful wife of 30 years, Susan, my sons: Joshua, Caleb, and Josiah; daughters Rebekah and Hannah. They are truly a manifestation of Gods goodness to me. All my children love Jesus and as a family we strive to serve Him with our whole hearts, minds, souls and strength. We are not claiming perfection. We understand that when God uses flawed, average, ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things, He is most visible, most powerful and most glorified. That is what we seek above all.

My hope is that we at Dale Baptist can join God in the amazing things he is doing, and be used by him to grow his kingdom for his glory and honor.
